Do-it-yourself project #3

A few weeks ago B got this great idea to create cornhole boards. So he got to work and has had to take some breaks due to work, etc. Well they are finally complete, just waiting for us to play! If you don't know what cornhole is, HERE are the official rules.....

Anyway, back to the boards. B has done a great job and I personally think they look amazing!!

Primer on....

First coat of Hawkeye yellow...

All done....

We got the graphic off of one of the blankets we have and made a stencil of it. B then made the I-O-W-A out of a do-it-yourself stencil and painted it on. This weekend we will be playing bags at the lake.

We also ordered bags off the internet. If you make them the stitching tends to come loose and beans go all over your dirveway. Here are the bags we bought. In Hawkeye Gold and black!

Weekend wrap-up!

This past weekend we had an absolute blast!!! B and I are now both exhausted and paying for it this Monday!! We started out the weekend by celebrating my mom & stepdad's 20th wedding anniversary with a lunch on Friday. What they didn't know was that we flew in my little sister to celebrate the weekend with us!! My mom's face was priceless!!! We then celebrated that evening with pizza and cake at my sister and another surprise, we had also flown in my little brother from New Orleans!! We figured out he would be here for a total of 32 hours!!

The happy couple!

Saturday evening we went out to dinner and it was delicious!! We surprised them once again by having their very good friends join us! The food was delcious, we were stuffed and had a wonderful time!

Heading out for a night cap....

Sunday we ended the weekend by going to the Iowa Corn Indy 250...no we are not race fans, but I have to say it was a blast! We got up super early Sunday morning and headed over to the Iowa Speedway to experience it all. Thankfully we were either wearing ear plugs or head phones listening to the drivers and crews talk. Otherwise I would have had serious hearing damage!!

Listening to the drivers and put crew talk to each other.

I added this video just so you could see how loud it really was!! Happy Monday!

Do-it yourself project #2

This past week I got the craft bug and decided to also paint a mail sorter that we had gotten for free from my mom. It was originally brown, and looked OK, but I thought most of our house has black accents and it would look much better black. So as B was still working on his cornhole bags I painted this mail sorter and I think it turned about very well....

We also got a nice surprise from my dad a few weeks back. My dad and stepmom gave me a print for Christmas called "Afternoons at the Abigail" well it didn't have a frame. So when Padre was here in February he took the print home and made a frame for it. When they were here a few weeks ago, my print came back all nice and framed! I love it!

It now hangs in our guest bedroom and I love the colors and the frame!
Dont' forget about the ask me anything post prior to this one!! Have a great weekend!

Happy Thursday

That title is the most creative I could be today. So this post really probably is going to have no real point other than to ramble.....

This week has been quite the rollercoaster for me, so many ups and downs, I won't go into specifics but thankfully my loving hubby has been there every step of the way!!

I am currently exploring making my wildest dream of a career come true. My sister approached me last week about possibly buying a bridal store where we live. The gal that owns it is looking to sell and she knows my deep love for planning weddings, showers, parties, etc. The store is actually pretty run down itself, but the building is there and the inventory. We are meeting with the owner next week to discuss everything. We would love to do bridal upstairs, prom downstairs and the top level have an area to host showers. I would be able to incoporate my
I Thee Wed planning business as well. Who knows what will happen though...it could all just be a silly dream!

Now I have something fun for my readers, I've done this before and it was a great success so I thought I would do it again......ASK ME ANYTHING!!! It can pertain to life, Ruby, my hubbs, me, ANYTHING, nothing is off limits, so have at it!! I will post the answers to your burning questions on Monday!!! Happy Thursday and I will leave you with some wedding boards I have created for some brides off my wedding blog..

Do-it-yourself project #1 complete!

This past weekend I decided that I wanted to paint this picture frame black. It used to hang above our bed in all it's gold glory, but I really couldn't stand it any longer, but I still loved the print. So after a few coats of spray paint, some painters tape and the pages of Glamour magazine to cover the glass, it is finally done!!! I still have no idea where I am going to hang it!!

Before:

Please excuse Renee on the cover of Glamour, I didn't take a pic before I started!

So now, I just need to find a home for this bad boy!!

A couple of do it yourself projects...

This past weekend B started working on Cornhole boxes for the bags game you play with bean bags and these boxes. I have to say they look pretty nice and of course they will be Iowa Hawkeye colors!!!

When B got the do it yourself bug so did I. Remember this picture that used to hang above our bed. Well it has been replaced but I love the actual print, but loathe the frame, have for a long time! So B picked me up some black spray paint and it's currently drying in the garage and I will post pics when it's done. For now here is the before pics....An eye sore if you ask me, but it was free!!!

So good bye ugly....hello satin black!!! I still have no idea where I am going to hang it!!

Birthday wish list

Over the summer I will be celebrating entering into my late 20's. Scary I know! On July 8th I will be turning 27. With the day being less than a month away I've had a few people ask me what I would like. Here are a few items that are currently on my wish list, hint, hint, B!!!

First these baskets from Crate and Barrel. We have a few from when we got married and I still love them to store blankets, books, Ruby's toys, etc in. Click here to see the basket.

I love these, simples, chic yet classic. Also from C&B.

White shift dress from Banana Republic. It's linen so very cool for those hot summer days!

I have a slight obbsession with Kate Spade, have since college. I love the simple, and chic look of her products!!! I love this organizer, maybe it could keep me on my toes! Between work, my wedding planning side business and our busy summer, I need something!

Oh, and don' forget cake, if anything, that's what I would like the most!! A nice chocolate cake with homemade vanilla ice cream!!!

Ruby after the lake

The past couple of weekends we have been going to my parents lake house to enjoy the beautiful weather, boat and jet ski!! Ruby loves it too, she gets to swim and swim and swim!!! Well when we get home she needs a bath and badly! Although we rinse her off after she goes in the lake, she needs a hard scrubbing when we get home. Sunday evening B gave Ruby a bath and yells out to me "A, get the camera and come here" I thought I was going to see a mess all over the bathroom, but nope I see this poor innocent face looking at me and wondering why we were laughing!

I can't help but giggle at the spiked hair!!!

Garage sale finds

Last Thursday and Friday my sis and I had a garage sale to get rid of some much needed junk that we had been piling up! As I took my loads of items over to her garage I found some great throw pillows that would be perfect in our home. So for $5.00 I scored these three pillows.

I'm thinking they could either go in our guest bedroom or our living room. Which room do you think?????

Guest bedroom:

Or living room:

Might I also add that by selling our stuff we didn't want I walked away $250 dollars richer! Yay for garage sales!

Intuition

This is one thing that has been weighing on my heart lately. This spring when I miscarried I knew something was wrong. Now you may ask, what are thinking, you're crazy, but I promise I'm really not. So here's what happened....
When I first found out I was pregnant I read everything I possibly could to be informed and educated with what was going on with me and the baby growing inside of me. Everytime I would read something about miscarriage a little light bulb would go off in my head, and I would have a little voice in my head saying "you're going to be a statistic". I know it sounds crazy but these thoughts would come at the most random times when I was at work, eating dinner, whenever.
It all came to a head when I was over at my parents house right around 12 weeks. My mom said "well why don't you start telling people". I turned to my stepdad and said " I just feel like something is wrong". He said "oh no, you're fine". Well, 3 days later I miscarried. So my point in all this is TRUST YOUR INSTINCT!!! It is never wrong!!! Now, I don't blame myself for not running straight to the doctors office or anything like that, but now I know what those random thoughts were and I know to listen to them in the future. So the posint of this post is to ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS listen to your intuition!!!
Happy Wednesday!

Fun at the lake

This past weekend B, Ruby and I headed to the lake for some much needed relaxation!! Saturday evening we cooked dinner, started a fire and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Sunday morning my sis, brother in law, and their 3 kiddos came over and hung out for the day. We had a blast, the weather was beautiful and my skin tone is now a bit red instead of pasty!
