I am sick to my stomach

As I watched the Presidential inauguration of the 44th President of the United States, I was proud to be an American, I was proud to call this my home country and I was sick to my stomach with the odasity of ome people......As the former President Bush took off in the helicopter, I heard booing, I heard NA NA hey, hey , hey goodbye.... My proud feeling immediately left me and I could not believe that a grown adult would stoop to that level.
I it my true belief that we live in the greatest country in the world and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else, we have the freedom of speech, but seriously people have a sensor. You may not be a Bush supporter, you may not like the guy, you may even hate him. But the pure fact is, he has kept you and your loved ones out of harms way for 7 years. You may not agree with his policies, you may want him out of office quicker than you can say Abby, but there is a level of respect that I think each and every President deserves. I am not an Obama supporter, HOWEVER, I would NEVER boo my President, NEVER!! To me that shows a lack of class that we as a country should be ashamed of, it show truly how thankless they are for the job he has done. To take on the job of the President is a thankless job and each of these 44 men that have been sworn in deserve our respect as a country. Again, even though I am not an Obama supporter, he is now my president and like it or not, he is working his tail off to keep me safe, to make this country better than it has been before.
Lastly, it is my true belief that until you step in someone's shoes, you should not judge. So until you want a thankless, stessful, and painful job, then it is not your position to judge. It is your position to have class, dignity and respect for the leader of our free world. I do hope and pray that President Obama leads us to a better economy, but if not, I will still and always have the utt most respect for the man. He after all is OUR PRESIDENT.
Now, I am not going off on my faithful blog readers, and I couldn't sit by the wayside and let this go unnoticed. Have a wonderful Tuesday..... I will back to my regualr blogging schedule tomorrow. Cheers!

Amen.

I didn't vote for him, either, but I still respect him and his title. It always infuriated me watching people who were anti-Bush bash the man with such little class. Basically, their poor behavior was in direct accordance with what they supposedly despised!

I live down the street from Rick Warren's church so don't even get me started on freedom to worship and tolerance for others! Ay yay yay.

Abby- I agree 150%. I was so upset when I heard the booing. Whether you like him or not, whether you agree with him or not, the office of President deserves respect from all Americans.

Very well written Abby. Unfortunately, for me it wasn't the only thing to make me sick to my stomach today.

I agree with your blog on one hand. I do think it is inappropriate to boo, however, one of the great things about our country is freedom of speech. I do not have to respect President Bush, in fact he has done a lot of things to lose that respect, such as lying about events in Iraq to win American support.
I also think it is our place to judge his decisions, this is a democracy, and he represents us.

I understnand where the anon poster is coming from. However, I still am standing firm that it is showing a lack of class to judge him as the media and many people have over the past few years. I am not going to debate politics but it is my belief that every President does have the United States best interest at heart and my thinking is no different about President Bush. Therefore I still back my stance that until I step in his shoes I will not judge decisions that he felt were for this countries best intrest. They may each make mistakes and we can all go back and say well I would have done this differently, but again, these men would not take this position unless they were a servent to this country. Why would they not make decisions to the best of their ability as to what is best for this country.

Amen, again and again!

Love your post! It totally got my spirits back up from all the slack and negativity and lack of respect he has been shown. And being a Texas girl, I am so very proud to say that I am glad that President Bush is back in Texas for good.

I am enjoying your blog as well! I am a new follower!
