Wedding week part II

Today I continuing on the wedding week theme....I thought today would be a great day to talk about flowers and details. When Brendan and I started the wedding planning process we said "nothing that isn't us" from there on we made the entire day about us. We decided to have a smaller wedding, no kids and only people that we knew very well. We didn't want the guest list to get out of hand. So that's exactly what we did in every aspect starting with the flowers and details.

First the flowers. I wanted the use brown and pink with accents of green and champagne, so my florists who was amazing created a sample for me, I didn't like it....it ad organge in it. So the second sample was created.....hated that one even more, it had yellow in it!!! I SAID BROWN & PINK!!!!! So I guess the third times a charm! We ended up with some beautiful arrangements.

When I was younger I had a nanny that was like a second mother to me. When I was 16 she passed away from breast cancer. I had this pin attached, that she had given me to a hankerchief that was my great-grandmothers to my bouquet so that she could be close to me on my special day.

We opted out of bouts for the groomsmen and ushers and we gave each of them a champagne pocket square as part of their gift.

Now to the details.....

Again B and I wanted everything to reflect us or our family traditions. So going with that, his paternal grandmother lent us these candleabras that we used on the alter and then again on the head table at the reception.

At the reception we had cards placed at each place setting that explained the candleabras, the sugared almonds that are a greek tradition, the greek pastries, the cake topper and cake cutter. Each were family traditions or borrowed from family members.

Here's a board I made of the gifts we bought our wedding party...For some reason I can't find any pics from the actual rehearsal dinner.

Our friends own a winery in Iowa and for the occassion we had monogrammed wine bottles made with our monogram and colors. These bottles were given to our wedding party and on each of the tables at the reception.

Stay tuned at the beginning of next week I will have two a day posts! We are moving tomorrow which means this blogger is going to be a busy little moving bee! Have a great weekend!
