I apologize that it has taken me this long to get this up! I've had the interview with Brendan done for over a week. Here you go! Thank you for all your questions!
1. Do you cook? If so, what is your favorite meal to make?
-Yes, I do cook, just not often, Abby does most of the cooking. When I do make a meal I really like to make breakfast, homemade lasagna or one of my favorite Greek dishes.
2. What are most excited about with expecting a new baby?
- Finding out if it’s a boy or a girl and who he/she looks like.
3. Are you thinking the baby is a boy or girl?
-Both Abby and I think half-pint is a boy. There is no specific reason we have both thought this from the beginning.
4. Did you get married in a Greek church? If not, how did your family react.
- Abby and I were not married in a Greek Orthodox church. I was actually not raised in a Greek church, so thankfully there were no conflicts with my family.
5. What are most looking forward to about being a dad?
- I am most looking forward to spending time as a family with Abby, half-pint and Ruby. Oh and playing soccer with half-pint, of course!
6. Is being married everything you thought it would be? The good and the bad?
- I would have to say no. The good times have been better and even better ones yet to come. As for the bad times, we have had to face obstacles that I never thought we would be faced with. With that said, those times of trial, have made the good times, that much better.
7. What are you most excited about seeing your wife become a mother?
- I’m most excited about seeing Abby’s face the first time she sees our child, after our tough journey of trying to have a healthy baby, that moment has been something I’ve been anticipating for quite some time.
8. What habit does your wife have that you find insanely cute?
- I find Abby’s attention to the small details insanely cute, especially around special occasions like my birthday, or our anniversary. She loves to surprise me and thinks outside the box to have every detail covered to make the day even better. I still remember her setting up a surprise birthday party for me when we were first dating. She had all of my friends from out of town drive about 2 hours to come and surprise me at the restaurant for my 23rd birthday. At that time Abby didn’t really know any of my friends very well, so the planning she had to do was above and beyond anything I had expected. Every small detail was covered and I was very pleasantly surprised.
9. When did you “know” she was the one?
- I knew Abby was the one when I was going to be moving away from her after college and we both broke down crying because we didn’t want to leave each other. I knew I didn’t want to be away from her ever again. We did make it work for about a year. We lived two hours apart and visited each other on weekends. Then Abby moved up to northern Iowa to be closer to me, 3 months later I proposed and 10 months after that, we were married.
10. What are the most important lessons you hope to teach as a dad?
- Lessons of respect for others, responsibility, the importance of God being first in your life, and doing the right thing.
11. What is one feature of yours and Abby’s that you hope to pass along to the baby?
- That’s a tough one, my butt…Kidding. Abby’s beautiful blue eyes and my dark hair. Mostly, I don’t have a preference, just as long as the baby is healthy I will be happy.
12. What is one thing you miss about being single?
- The average price of my haircut prior to getting married was $15. After getting married the average cost of our household haircut is $100 and I still go to Great Clips, or as Abby calls it….the hair barn.
